Educational Technology and Copyright Law

  • Copyright laws are made in the books to encourage creation of content, not restrict it
  • Copyright does not require filing papers
  • Copyrighted work can be used for nonprofit purposes, such as education
  • In order to use some images, you must have a license and give credit to the photographer
  • Almost everything is copyrighted, but not everything is licensed
  • Copyrighted work of your own includes these four rights: the right to reproduce, display the work publicly, prepare works derived from the copyrighted work, and distribute copies of the work to the public by sale, rental or lending
